Serengeti Energy powers sustainability by renewable energy projects of up to 50MW in Sub-Saharan Africa from early stages to commercial operation.

We have previously focused on hydro-power technology, but we are now scaling up to venture into solar and wind energy technologies. Serengeti Energy commissioned Sierra Leone’s, first commercial grid connected solar power plant with a capacity of 5MW, phase 1 of a 25MW project and recently commissioned a 21MWp solar power plant in Malawi. The addition of the two solar PV plants have added a further 26MW generation. Our goal is to have 300MW of capacity in operation by 2030.

Our in-house O&M team, together with service providers who have highly qualified and motivated staff, manages our assets from the commercial operation date (COD) up to the expiry of the project power purchase agreement (PPA). We currently have 9 operational plants in 5 countries: 3 hydro-power plants in South Africa, 3 hydro-power plants in Uganda, 1 hydro-power plant in Rwanda, 1 solar-power plant in Sierra Leone and 1 solar-power plant in Malawi, with a total operational capacity of 73.9MW.
