Rwaza Hydropower Plant

Rwaza 2.7MW Hydropower Plant is in Musanze district, Rwanda. The plant draws water from the Mukungwa River through a weir and intake structure. The water flows to the powerhouse through a headrace channel and desilting basins to feed 2 horizontal Francis turbines. Power is evacuated through a 30kV line to Mukungwa substation.

Mpanga Hydropower Plant

Mpanga Hydropower Plant is situated at Mpanga Falls, on the Mpanga River in Uganda. The 18 MW power plant draws water from a small reservoir through a headrace channel to a forebay. The water then drops to the powerhouse through penstocks to feed 3 horizontal Francis turbines. Power is evacuated through a 33kV line.

Nyamwamba I Hydropower Plant

Nyamwamba I Hydropower Plant is in the village of Kilembe, along the Nyamwamba River, in Kasese District in the Western Region of Uganda. Water is diverted through a weir to a Desilting Basin and then conveyed to the powerhouse through a closed channel and penstock, to feed 3 horizontal Francis turbines. Power is fed to the national grid at 33kV to Nkenda substation.

Nyamwamba II Hydropower Plant

Nyamwamba II Hydropower Plant is located upstream from Nyamwamba I HPP on the Nyamwamba River, in Kasese District, Uganda. The plant diverts water through a weir to a desilting basin and a penstock to the powerhouse. 2 horizontal Francis turbines evacuate power at 33kV to the national grid. Power is fed to the national grid at 33kV to Nkenda substation.

Merino Hydropower Plant

Merino HPP has a capacity of 3.7MW and is located on the Ash river, upstream from Sol Plaatje Hydropower Plant . The plant comprises of an intake and diversion weir, headrace canal and forebay feeding a single horizontal Kaplan turbine. Power is evacuated at 22kV to the grid.

Sol Plaatje Hydropower Plant

Sol Plaatje Hydropower Plant has a capacity of 2.3MW and is located on the Ash river, with the power plant built into the existing concrete at Sol Plaatje dam in Free State Province, South Africa. The structure houses the intake, a single horizontal Kaplan turbine-generator unit and tailrace back to the river, downstream of the dam. Power is evacuated at 11kV to the grid.

Stortemelk Hydropower Plant

Stortemelk Hydropower Plant is located on the Ash river, fed by the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. The power plant is built into the existing concrete at the Botterkloof Dam. The compact structure houses the intake, a vertical Kaplan turbine-generator unit and tailrace back to the river, downstream of the dam. Power is evacuated at 22kV to the grid.

Baoma I Solar PV Plant

Baoma I Solar PV Plant is the first IPP plant of its kind in Sierra Leone, located in Bo District. The plant comprises of 11,000 Solar PV panels on single-axis trackers, connected to 23 string inverters and a Medium Voltage Smart Transformer Station. The plant connects to the Bo-Kenema grid at 33kV.

Nkhotakota I Solar PV Plant

Nkhotakota I Solar PV Plant is in Nkhotakota District, eastern Malawi. The plant comprises of over 59,000 Solar PV panels on single-axis trackers, connected to 132 string inverters and 4 Medium Voltage Smart Transformer Stations. The plant connects to the Malawi National Grid through a 66kV substation.
