Dr Chris Bale, Serengeti Energy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) paid a recent courtesy visit to Honourable Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay. Dr Bale travelled to Sierra Leone to see for himself the progress on the construction of Phase 1 of the Baoma solar PV power plant and engage with the Honourable Minister Sesay and his team to prepare for commissioning and commercial operation of the 5MW plant. Dr Bale and his team also paid a courtesy call to Honourable Denis Vandy, Minister of Finance to provide an update on the progress of the project and to share the company’s ambitious programme to increase renewable energy supply in the Republic of Sierra Leone.
Baoma I is the first phase of a 25MW solar PV power project. This will involve a total new investment of USD35 million in the Sierra Leone power system. The project will supply low cost electricity to EDSA and will help to diversify the electricity mix in the Country.
Serengeti Energy is working with the Ministry of Energy, EDSA and EGTC to prepare for connection to the local grid and the export of power from Sierra Leone’s first independent power project (IPP).
